Notes:

Similar to the California Sister but that has orange on the tip and short band of white. This has an orange edge on the side of forewing and longer band of white. Plus the band of white is curving up not arching down.

Thank you that is perfect even when it mentioned it feeds on Buckeye.The second image is a Buckeye tree. Wonder why I couldn't find it on the California Butterfly list. I only found the California Sister that just barely came close.
