Jared - sorry to be so dim, but I can't find your home page or how to join. I searched projectnoah but don't see your project...

I'll go back tomorrow and see if I can detect a watermelon rind smell.

It should smell similar to watermelon rind. It does have an unusual morphology gully.

Does look similar to Polyporus squamosus (Dryad's Saddle), but not completely typical. Perhaps it's just displaying an unusual morphology, or it else it could be something closely related.

This is Dryad's saddle! Nice find. Can you join my Mushrooms of Appalachia project and post this spotting to that? You can find the mission on my home page.
