Daphne mezereum
It is a small erect shrub, whose height varies from 30 to 70 cm (maximum 100 cm). Woody plants with overwintering buds are placed between 30 cm and one meter above the ground.
This plant grows preferably on calcareous soils and moist soil vegetation dominated by rhododendron, alder, of hazel, of beech, chestnut, mountain forests in general and subalpine heaths. The preferred substrate is limestone that is acidic, basic and neutral pH-average nutritional value of the land that needs to be moist medium.
All parts of this plant are very toxic (especially berries). Its juice for example, produces a strong irritant action and produces blisters on the skin. The berries if ingested can cause symptoms similar to suffocation.
