Cluster of bats hanging from the ceiling of an ancient Mayan pyramid.
Lacandon Rainforest, Xachilan Mayan City.
Thank you AfriBats for the ID and the link.
Thank you Rosa Maria
Yes Lauren, I saw them in the same temple, there were two different species there. Amazing you saw them too.
What do you think Luis! We had two bat species in that Temple. Here is the other one http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/237....
These have such long thin leaf noses, wonder which one it is…..
Wow Luis, AfriBats just threw me for a loop, that my spotting has both Phyllostomatids (Leaf Nose) and Emballonurids (Sac-wings). Both were in the same temple in Yaxchilan! Did you find these in the Temple that faces the Grand Plaza? The one with several doorways and all the dark labyrinth tunnels?
Gracias Lauren y Alejandra.
Qué hermosos murciélagos!!!Felicitaciones Luis, muy buenas fotos.
Wonderful shots Luis! I got one only and a video of a male defending his female.
Thank you Emily.
