Gray Wall Jumper

Description:

Salticidae; Salticinae; Menemerus; Menemerus bivittatus Dufour, 1831. The spider shown here is a female. It seems to be an exact match for the picture in Wikipedia and many more in inaturalist.org. It is common in our immediate area, to the extent that I could probably find one if I went out specifically to look for it. However, it is not so common here as some other Salticids. If I had to list the ten most common jumping spiders here, based on my own records of observations and photos, I think Plexippus petersi would be number one. The subject of this spotting, Menemerus bivittatus would be on the list, but probably nearer to number ten. Not very scientific, but it's how I think about things - sometimes :-)
