Phellinus gilvus
Decayed remnants of a polypore, shelf fungi found in a tree wound. It's tough and leathery with a red top, turning to orange and yellow near the edge. Bottom is porous.
Found this particular specimen in Comstock Riverside Park, which is full of hardwoods, conifers, and beeches. The park floods from time to time and can often be very marshy.
Appears parasitic

Welcome to Project Noah. Phellinus are definitely 'heart rot' fungi.
