Grey Mycena

Mycena sp

Description:

Clumps of mushrooms with grey convex caps about 20mm wide. The caps were slightly viscid with a rubbery texture. Centres had a small depression with a deep grey colour which faded towards a striate margin. Margins were significantly paler. Stipes were two-toned soft and hollow collapsing towards the base which was covered with mycelium ( pic #5). Gills were slightly spaced and a pale cream colour.

Habitat:

Spotted on a decaying log- probably Eucalyptus in a damp Eucalyptus forest gully. There were several several clumps.

Notes:

Some of the photos were taken with a flash. The grey colouring is more representative of the real thing ! Thanks to gully.moy for assistance with the genus.
