Description:

Early spring flowering plant, broad leaves, 1 - 1.5 inches tall on single stem, leaves deeply lobed. Produces a white flower and apple like fruit. Plant generally grows in clusters of individuals. Most of the plant is poisonous.

Habitat:

Woodlands, moist to damp shaded areas

Notes:

Appears well before the forest canopy while the majority of the sunlight reaching the forest floor is available.
