Description:

Small moth of about 8 mm, orange with zebra stripes on the tips of the wings. Family Pyralidae.

Habitat:

Came to the parking lights of a shopping mall, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.

Wow! Thank you bayucca! I had thought that Gilma's Moth (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/222...) and mine were similar and they are not even in the same families! Amazing. Maybe this is a new record for Mexico?

Very close to Gilma's, but not the different shape and marking at the border of the forewings. And yours is a Pyralidae, not Crambidae.
Pyralidae, Pyralinae, Mapeta xanthomelas.
