The spider on the left has been in my shower for weeks (alone). About 5 days ago the other one appeared but is inanimate. Perhaps just an exoskeleton that has been shed? There is no web. What can the spider be living on?

Wow... good questions! Most spiders will molt throughout their "youth", then stop once they reach their full adult size. Although I've heard that some species continue even then. I'm going to give an educated guess that the 2nd one that just appeared is indeed a molted skin. And you may be surprised what that spider may find to eat..even in your shower.....!!!! BTW... thanks for leaving it alone and not killing it!
