Hyalophora cecropia
The Cecropia Moth, Hyalophora cecropia, is a vibrant moth in the Saturniidae family dominated by brownish wings and gorgeous patterns along the edges with white markings surrounded by orange-red. Hyalophora cecropia is also known as the Robin Moth. This moth has the largest wingspan of native moths in temperate North America with wingspans between 110 and 150 mm.
This Cecropia Moth was found by a IB Biology student in a swampland habitat.
Lifer! I was ecstatic when one of the upperclassmen brought it into my class! My science teacher asked me me what it was in the middle of science class and I immediately identified it! It was quite the unexpected surprise, and I was so glad to share the excitement with the whole class. The moth was released safely after this photo.

Thank you very much Kya! It was quite huge!
This is huge. I used to upload a photo of a certain species of moth, on whose wings also appeared the similar almond kernel shape.
Thank you very much, alina and Ashley!
