Common Snapping Turtle

Chelydra serpentina

Description:

This snapping turtle was a lot smaller than most I've seen on my farm, only about 8 inches long, so I'm assuming it was a young turtle. The snappers I've seen previously were 15+ inches long.

Habitat:

Small farm pond and prairie.
