White-tailed Kite (Fledglings)

Elanus leucurus

Description:

White-tailed Kites are hovering raptors. White with dark shoulders, grey wings and back, yellow legs and large dark eyes. They hover over their prey and swifty dive to attack. Similar to the adults except the fledgling's back and wings have white tips on the feathers and rusty colored streaks on the head and breasts.

Habitat:

Open fields and marshes

Notes:

These are 6 fledglings I spotted all in the same tree.

Yes and I didn't see the parents so I am guessing too they were waiting for them to bring lunch.

If you notice the last image, they are all looking at the same spot. Guessing there was a ground squirrel there. The are is a fenced off restoration habitat area or I would have gotten closer
