Green Heron

Butorides virescens


Mostly black, brown, and tan in color. Distinctive black feathers on top of head (looked like spiked hair) and two white stripes down abdomen.


This bird was hopping from branch to branch along side a small river by my house. He seemed bothered by my presence so I apologize for the bad pictures.
