Dianthus barbatus
Growing wild next to my allotment was this beautiful flower. It was in amongst some other wild flower type plants. I tried to remove the whole plant but this was unsuccessful, so I took the flowers and put them in a vase and they look beautiful. I would like to discover the species and plant another few on my allotment. It has a beautiful very strong scent, a (forgive the irony) typical floral one. The flowers remind me of carnations a little, except these are much smaller, each flower somewhere between a 5p and 10p piece. If anyone could identify this I would be so grateful. Thanks :)
Overgrown abandoned allotment in a suburban area, with very old woodland overhanging.
Thank you both :) I shall look into it. They're beautiful and smell amazing for such small flowers.
