Hemipenthes sp.

Description:

Dark fly about 10 mm long with brown stripes on abdomen and on the sides of the thorax. The wings are black on the top half, extending down most of the front edge in a stair-step pattern.

Habitat:

Oak woodland in riparian area

Notes:

The genus name means half mourning, probably referring to the wing pattern being half black.
