Blue Peafowl

Pavo cristatus

Description:

The Indian Peafowl or Blue Peafowl is a large and brightly coloured bird of the pheasant family native to South Asia, but introduced and semi-feral in many other parts of the world.

Habitat:

This Peafowl was spotted in a small town just outside the Tankwa National Park.

Notes:

It was not captive, simply walking around. Surreal moment finding it in the semiarid dessert of the Karoo.
