Bat Beetle

Description:

These beetles are about 35 cm long and uniformly colored. Most are light gray but some are somewhat darker.

Habitat:

These beetles are found in the bat dung that accumulates under bats here in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador.

Notes:

These beetles are common and really stink when picked up. Even when not picked up, most times we can tell when one has wandered into the room where we are. It is really strong.
