Description:

40-45cm, wading bird. Spotted at a Shropshire Nature Reserve, 100k breeding pairs in Britain. Oldest bird was 43yrs at death.

Habitat:

It nests near rivers and gravel pits and grassy tops of small islands when inland as this spot was.
