She was lost in my garage somehow! I'm pretty sure it was a juvenile. She hopped around a little disoriented after I got her out of the garage. She didn't fly off, rather hopped into the woods. I hope she lives!
Suzanne, I was so mixed on what to do when I found her because I was afraid her mama wouldn't take her back if I touched her. But when my puppy went after her like a new play toy (yikes!), I went into protective mama bear mode and scooped her up and put her off into the woods. I haven't heard her crying out in the woods after she hopped off, or today either... so I'm thinking positive thoughts! :)
Baby animals. Hard to know what to do. Maybe you did the "right" thing by instinct. But it did my heart good to see that tiny life cradled in your caring hands. Jes' saying ...
This is a fledgling American Robin. They usually spend a couple days learning how to fly but often don't fly immediately. The parents will continue to care for them for some time. Sounds like this one had a wrong turn into your garage.
The parent birds should be nearby so hopefully this little one makes it.
