cf. Gibbifer sp.
As best as I can tell, this some species of the genus Gibbifer. But I haven't been able to ID it to the species level.
Undergrowth in seasonally dry tropical forest.
It was completely inactive, just hanging on to the leaf next to the path.

Es ist eigenartig das es über eine Art die scheinbar nicht selten ist keine Informationen gibt.
Bin in der Zwischenzeit nicht schlauer geworden :-(
Thanks for taking a look bayucca. The Cuphotes specimens do look pretty similar. The spots are more irregular though. My knowledge of entomology isn't deep enough to make a distinction between the 2 genera.
I would also agree with Gibbifer sp. and I did not find a reasonable match. I mostly can tell you which one it is not ;-)...

And to make it all even more complex I found a mimic of Gibbifer called Cuphotes which is actually a Tenebrionidae, however, I also found conflicting taxonomy here as well. Just take a look at this interesting mimics. Personally I would still tend to Gibbifer sp., though.
