American Green Frog

Lithobates clamitans

Description:

A mid-sized true frog, ranging in size from 5-10 cm and weighing in at 1-3 oz. Lithobates Clamitans has 2 subspecies: the northern green frog and the bronze frog. I believe this to be a female, as the circular patch near the eye, or tympanum is about the same size eye, thus signifying a female. The male's tympanum is about twice as large as the eye. This species is distinguished from the bullfrog by the dorsal ridge running along the eye and down the back, which the bullfrog lacks.

Habitat:

I found this specimen in my neighbor's pond
