Terciopelo/ Fer-de-Lance

Bothrops asper

Description:

In my back porch, I almost step on this snake, one meter long, lucky for me it looks as if it is ready to shed, white film on the eyes. It is in my inner garden at this time, rolled up, does not seem to have much energy?! (venomous pit viper species, Terciopelo, Fer-de-Lance, Bothrops asper)

Thank you, brycegarling.
I did not find live babies perhaps it was ready to shed but it did not do it in the garden. The neighboring property owners told me we have more Terciopelo/ Fer-de-Lance, Bothrops asper in our area than any other snake. I assume my ID is correct I did a long re-search but I am not an expert!?

Usually Vipers are non-aggressive unless disturbed :p
Cool spotting!

Thank you so much, shebebusynow.
It is like they say "The ultimate Viper'' I think I will ask the local farmers for help to re-locate it.

Definitely not a species you want to stumble on! Good luck relocating it. Wear lots of leather and use long poles :)

Thank you, annorion.
We just had strong/heavy rain and it moved, I just have to see if it is still in one of my 4 Inner Gardens!?

Wow! She's a beauty...hope you can relocate her safely. When snakes are shedding they are typically not as active.

It looks like this beauty likes my Inner Garden, it is still rolled up in the same spot!? I have 2 cats, I am going to have to re-locate it away from my Home!! I am crossing my fingers it is not breeding there, I am not sure if they lay eggs or have live baby snakes... : o
