A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
They are all over the campus.
Hi Liron.
I go over to the uni quite often, and there's the sustainability walk around the lake which features many native species. I've got quite a few pics in my portfolio - birds, turtles, trees, etc... under the tab 'uq lake'. It's a peaceful spot and I love it.
Hi Neil,
Yeah, they are big but seem to be scared off easily by the the smaller birds.
I took this picture on my first day in Australia and I was excited to meet one on campus. Since then I have spotted many of the lovely birds here in Brisbane, but I don't usually take photos, so I don't have much to share here.
By the way, welcome, Liron. I've added an ID suggestion with a few details. A couple of missions you may be interested in - Wilds of Southeast Queensland, and Wildlife of Brisbane.
Yeah, there are some big fellows at UQ... and they're all over my backyard too. You should see the nest one made in my neighbour's yard yesterday. It's massive, and the turkey has destroyed a large part of her garden. She asked me how to stop it. All I could do was shrug my shoulders and say "short of posting a 24hr guard, you can't!" Chicks on the way soon, I think.
