Winged Stick Insect - Male

Marmessoidea flavoguttata

Description:

This winged Phasmid is my 1,000th spotting. This species was described in 1877 under the genus of Marmessoidea. However, in recent years, closer study of this species would have it reclassified to the genus of Rhamphosipyloidea. He is around 6cm in size, mostly reddish brown in color with greenish/bluish thorax with bright yellow spots on Prothorax behind the head and top of his wings.

Habitat:

Tropical forest

Very nice spotting! Congratulations on your 1000th spotting! Why do you think it might be a new, as yet not described species?
