Spotting

Description:

Large black fuzzy caterpillar, I didn't even realize that he had any brown marks on him at all until he was wrapping himself around the leaf and I was taking a close up. The markings look like they are on his skin, not in the hair. But the lower bottom hairs do have a reddish orange tint to them in the light. It also has a shiny black head. My son says its a poisonous asp and you have to go to the hospital if it stings/bites you?

Habitat:

we almost stepped on this guy walking to the truck.

It doesn't have the colored banding between the segments like the Giant Leopard Moth. It is solid black except on the very bottom by his legs where you can see some brown/reddish/orange marks.
