Cogniaux's Orchid

Acianthera/ Pleurothallis cogniauxiana

Description:

Epyphite miniature orchid. Tiny yellow orchids all in one stem which comes out from a big green leaf. Found in Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters as a miniature to just medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls naked or with 1 to 2, basal sheaths with 2 to 3, narrow, but prominent wings and carrying a single, apical, fleshy, elliptic-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, cordate below into the base leaf that blooms in the winter through summer on 1 to 2, to 2" [5 cm] long, shorter than the leaf, distichous, racemose, few to 8 flowered inflorescence arising through a spathe.

Habitat:

Monteverde Cloud Forest. Inside the reserve, therefore found in the wild.

Surprising shape for me. I had seen alikes before here but it was a very nice to find one during my hike in the forest :-)

I have found the ID, Dan: is a Pleurothallis cogniauxiana. Thanks for the tip anyway!

It's an orchid for sure, a very cool one. Possible a species of Lepanthes.
Daniel Maclaren or Jonathan Sequiera might have a better idea.
