Mergus merganser
Female is similar in appearance to the Red-breasted. Grey top side with rusty colored head. The feathers on back of head gives it a scruffy look and is longer then the Red-breasted. The long then bill is reddish orange. There is a white patch on the chin.
Spotted in a large creek.

It was hard to get them all in one show. Fun watching them position to be on the mother's back.
Thank you for the nomination. Thank you AshleyT and James.
Awesome Jellis. Good luck with SOTW. You got my vote!
Too adorable!
Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
Thank you patty and Rosa Maria
