Rock Dove / Rock Pigeon

Description:

Rock doves have a blue-gray color and two black bands on their wings. Most have iridescent throat feathers and some have dark spots on their wings. They have broad, pointed wings and a wide, rounded tail with a dark tip. Adults are also known for their reddish-orange eyes.

Habitat:

Although they are native to Europe, North Africa, and southwestern Asia, Rock doves live in urban areas, farmland, and rocky cliffs worldwide, including North America.

Notes:

Rock doves feed primarily on seeds, fruits, and occasionally invertebrates. They are also often seen eating discarded food left by people. Rock doves are generally resident and do not migrate.
