Rufescent Burrowing Frog

Fejervarya rufescens

Description:

This species is widely distributed throughout the Western Ghats in India. They are commonly found in riparian habitats and at the edges of forests.

Habitat:

Moist, semi-evergreen forests in Agumbe - Karnataka, India

Notes:

I was walking around in an open patch by the edge of the forest when I noticed little mounds of mud leaping out of the soil. The frogs stay well camouflaged, their bodies covered with soil.
