Description:

2 1/2 - 3 ft. Large dark bird; thin bill; orange on throat (red during mating season) often stands with wings outspread. Note beak tip is downturned. bill tilts up when in water. Also sit low in water.

Habitat:

Spotted on Willoughby Lake. Coasts and freshwater.
