Small White (male)

Pieris rapae

Description:

The single spot on the forewing indicates this is a male.

Habitat:

As plants in the Mustard family are both caterpillar hosts and food host plants, and our yards have a great deal of (invasive) wild garlic mustard, the Cabbage White is by far the most common butterfly we have. These were introduced to North America "somewhere around 1860" (- wikipedia)
