Description:

This caterpillar with stripey costume looks rather similar to its adult butterfly. They were feeding on passionfruit foliage.

Habitat:

Spotted at the Melbourne zoo. These are a tropical species and would never survive the local climate.

Thanks Alice. Its interesting how similar they look. They feed on Passiflora which is toxic and seem to be quite safe displaying bright colors with no tendency to camouflage. I would guess they are toxic in both stages.
