Hickory Tussock Moth (larva)

Lophocampa caryae

Description:

This caterpillar was a little over 1 inch in length.

Habitat:

Found about 2 feet of the ground on a path through a wooded area.

Notes:

My research indicates it was probably a good thing I didn't handle this, the hairs can irritate skin, especially if transferred to the eyes.
