Rhacophorus lateralis
This cutie is an endangered species found in South part of India. She is a post-metamorphic tadpole and so adult looks different It is one of the few amphibians in India, that constructs its nest above the ground using leaves. I got this fellow on a rainy evening. He was hiding under the leaf. She gave me some wonderful poses :)
This is first discovered in Kerala, A southern state of India. The species has been reported from sholas in Eravikulam National Park and Kudremukh National Park, plantations in Kodagu and Chikkamagaluru in Karnataka and Wayanad in Kerala
This species of tree frog was considered to be very rare documented. In 2004, the IUCN assessed this species as Endangered and considered its range to be restricted to two small areas of Wyanad and Coorg in southern Western Ghats of India. I belong to a place Near western Ghats. If i had known earlier that this was endangered, i could have took her to my home :P For more references : http://threatenedtaxa.org/ZooPrintJourna...

Hi Gilma,
I am speechless for your interest :) You are tempting me to find all stages of this froggie :) All i can say, western ghats of India or Agumbe rainforest is around 100 miles from my native village. I ll definitely go there soon, when i visit my native and ll get this froggie home. I found this fellow only once in my native village :( I am hoping i can found many in Agumbe :) There i ll try to get more info :) When searching, i too found lot of drastic changes in different stages :)
Adarsha, first I got to tell you...I love your Tadpole... : )
I went in links about frogs of india and try to find this cute frog, little did I know it was a tadpole and how different it turned out, but it was a lot of fun.
I had to come back to your Frog spotting, and it was nice to go in the Link provided and see the tadpole before and after. Thank you for sharing.
