Red-rumped Parrot

Psephotus haematonotus

Description:

A single bird about 30cm long; green-blue mostly around head, yellow lower belly, grey-teal-blue on wings, bright red patch on rump.

Habitat:

Open fields with occasional eucalyptus; farm land near a tiny country town.

Notes:

Also called Red-backed Parrot or Grass Parrot. The female is plainer. The green colouring on the male might vary to a tuquoise. http://birdlife.org.au/bird-profile/red-...
