Description:

Yellow Leaf Beetle with black stripes and with the head, thorax and legs all red. The hind legs are greatly enlarged for jumping. Family Chrysomelidae, Subfamily Galerucinae.

Habitat:

Heavy shrubbery along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 11.5, 865 meters.

more rounded shape than similar Disonycha spp.

Thank you Miguel! I think you are right about this one. They are almost identical and I see from other sites that the white stripe can be present or absent (absent in this one). We also often have many species in common between Florida and Chiapas.
