Habitat:

Found growing from soil with light forest litter in narrow band of mixed deciduous and coniferous forest between gravel road and lake. Second photo shows setting.

Notes:

Spotted at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge along new North Country Trail boardwalk just south of East Tamarac Lake access. Also known as the common puffball, warted puffball, or gem-studded puffball.
