Spotting

Description:

There were a few unusual purple mushrooms. I was really surprised to see them. They had purple tops and white stems

Habitat:

Old growth floodplain forest, hydric hammock, upland mixed hardwoods and pine flatwoods.

Notes:

Pictures was in Springs Hammock Preserve.

Oh wow that is cool! I've never heard of that. Then again I don't know much about fungi identification. I will certainly look into it since it does occur in the Southeast of N. America. If not for the exact colorations it certainly is a good start and lead into other purple mushrooms. :)

there is a mushroom with the common name "The Deceiver" known for the color change like this.
