Stilt-Legged Fly

Description:

Strange little fly with long legs and a small head, about 8 mm long. Family Micropezidae. Many species of this family mimic wasps or ants.

Habitat:

Forest and secondary growth under the San Cristobal Bridge on the Highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 25, 1,500 meters.
