Assassin Bug

Description:

Very colorful Assassin Bug with stripped legs. About 2 cm long. The last picture shows one of the nymphs which were also present. It blended very well with the yellow and red flowers of the bush it was on. Family Reduviidae.

Habitat:

Forest and secondary growth under the San Cristobal Bridge on the Highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 15, 1,500 meters.
