A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Anhinga novaehollandiae
We saw this glorious bird drying its wings while we were out kayaking at Lake Nuga Nuga. Darters are plentiful at this lake - looking out from the shore you can see them perched here, there and everywhere in this stance, although they are generally solitary birds. Darters feed in water, and when they are swimming only their long snake-like neck and head is visible above the water.
