Familiar Bluet Damselfly

Enallagma civile

Description:

Familiar Bluet is a tiny damselfly, size 28-39 mm, that is common and widespread. Males are light blue with black bands and stripes. Female bluets are quite variable. Some are almost as blue as the male but usually have a lot more black on the upperside of her abdomen. Other females can be olive, tan or whitish instead of blue.

Habitat:

On the tiniest amount of vegetation in an urban pond. Pond was surrounded by concrete and aerated with a large fountain.
