Volvariella gloiocephala

Description:

Mounds of moist french-grey caps bursting out of white universal veils, the remnants of which can be seen as a broken collar around the domed cap margin in pics 1 to 3. Pics 5 & 6 show a newly erupting mushroom with a pale cap and splitting universal veil. The veil will remain as a a Volva at the base of the stipe in older mushrooms as can be seen in spotting
http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/311...
Gills are crowded and white in young caps (pic 4). Stipe was smooth and white.

Habitat:

Spotted amongst wood mulch in a garden. http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:c...

Notes:

Stubble Rosegill is so named because it is common amongst stubble in freshly harvested fields in the UK and Europe and the gills become pink with maturity. Order: Agaricales Family: Pluteaceae
