Description:

The Alpine Heath is a butterfly species found in Central Europe in alpine meadows between 800 and 2,900 m. New species on Project Noah.

Habitat:

Forest clearing, 1600 m.

Notes:

The caterpillars of this species overwinter and pupate at the beginning of summer. The Alpine Heath has one generation per year This species is similar to the Darwin's Heath, C. darwiniana. For identification see the second reference.
