Wood-Nymph

Cercyonis pegala

Description:

More of a medium to small sized butterfly. Found a few specimen so not all the pictures are from the same butterfly. Has many ocellus on both outside and on the inside. They didn't seem to want to bask at all so open pictures were hard to get. This species is highly variable and looks very different from other specimen from across the country.

Habitat:

Forest line. Found in tall grass.

Thanks for the reply. I download the cliplets to convert a video into gif. But the program is complicated for me. I'm not getting a good result. My profile photo is a more elaborate gif, is cinemagraph. I found the image as a result of research on cinemagraph.

I used MakeAGif.com I'm going to check out Cliplets to see if I can get higher quality gif though. Is that what you used?
