American lappet moth (larva)

Phyllodesma americana

Found walking along the sidewalk, apparently ready to pupate as it wrapped its cocoon just hours after being found and pupated within the cocoon a few days later. The cocoon was dissected to monitor pupation.

First time seeing this larva!
