Golden Chanterelles

as ever with the chanterelles I've found; annoyingly small particularly when compared to American spottings posted up! I tried one of the small ones and the taste was not what I expected; it was quite sour and peppery. Large patch, under beech. Perhaps 50 or so fruitbodies total. I went back 4 days later (Jul 5) after watering a few of them and after two spells of rain but they had only grown centimetres more. I re-visited Aug 18 and there were some up to size (I think). Chanterelles are well known for being a choice edible mushroom. Some say they are best eaten with eggs for breakfast
