A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Nephila plumipes
very large globe-bodied spider with long slender legs
These are found in gardens and forests. They require an undisturbed area of several cubic metres for their huge complex webs and will move on if the web is disturbed. This is a female. This one is photographed at night by a trail through a community oval but would probably be found in the same place by day as well.
Apologies for the backdrop I needed something for the camera to get a fix on and didnt have any unprinted white paper or card
