Red-eared Slider

Trachemys scripta elegans

Description:

the most common pet turtle, red stripe in the ear area of the head, slides quickly off logs, rocks.

Habitat:

There were several visible on logs, rocks in this small, freshwater pond. Suburban Langley area. Pacific west coast.

Notes:

The Red-eared Slider is on the World's List of 100 most invasive species. We can thank the pet trade for that and all those who release unwanted pets into the wild when they are done with them:(
